Small Copy Changes That Make a Big Impact on Your Brand

It took me a long time to get the messaging right in my business. And by that, I mean effective. The kind that got me people in my Instagram DMs inquiring about my services. The kind that had leads filling out the inquiry form on my website. The kind that got me more traffic to my website than I could have imagined.

And that’s coming from someone who currently has less than 200 followers on Instagram. Which lets you know that not everyone interested in your services follows you or ever will.

Nailing my messaging has helped me increase my profits. When I get on discovery calls with prospects, the first thing they usually mention is how incredible my website looks. And to that, I say a big fat, blush-filled thank you because, while that website may have taken me 40+ hours to complete (I designed it myself too), it took me much longer to curate the writing toolkit I have today.

But this isn’t about me. It’s about your business and how there are tiny changes that you can make in less than one hour that can change how leads and potential customers view you and your brand. The good news is that I'm about to share four with you.

The kicker? These are places I often see business owners forget to customize their copy, or don’t even think to. But I’m giving you the goods because I want to see you thrive and nail your messaging. Every. Single. Bit.

  1. The footer of your website. While most websites only list the name of the website, copyright, and the year of publication, this is an incredible place to insert who you are, who you serve, and where you are located. Talk about search engine optimization!

  2. The footer of your emails. Don’t be boring and use “Unsubscribe.” Add some personality to your brand. So maybe that’s “Unsubscribe here. It won’t hurt our feelings.”

  3. The post email subscription page. Instead of the predictable “Thanks for subscribing!” Get more specific. Subscribing to what? What can they expect? Is this list exclusive? So for example, if you’re a boudoir photographer, that post email subscription page might say, “Thanks for subscribing to the spiciest list you’ll ever be a part of. Something hot is coming your way in 3…2…1…”

  4. 404 error page. When people reach this page, it likely isn’t a pleasant experience. But you can make one! While it’s not always recommended to be cute or clever with copy, this is one exception. Make it silly or fun!

These are places where you can customize your copy in under an hour. Need help coming up with an idea for one of these for your brand? Join my email list and shoot me an email—I’ll help you brainstorm.
